Vardey Recruitment have been retained to recruit a Financial Controller for a high growth, entrepreneurial, professional services business based in Bournemouth, Dorset. We are searching for a career hungry Financial Controller, who in time is keen to step into the Financial Director's shoes as the business grows over the next few years.
Initially, the Financial Controller’s Job will be to manage the team, ensure day to day financial operations are running efficiently whilst maintaining an excellent level of financial control. The Financial Controller will be highly commercial and be a key business partner to the Sales and Operational teams. This Financial Controller Job is a crucial role for the continued success of this progressive Dorset company as it scales up and grows.
Job highlights:
- Responsible for the finance function and all statutory and management reporting
- Day to day management and coaching of the team
- Preparing the monthly management accounts, including KPIs and financial analysis
- Business Partnering to the sales and operational teams
- Provide analysis on the monthly management accounts
- Intracompany charges
- Group audit coordination
- Oversight of UK tax compliance
- Preparation of statutory accounts, tax returns
- Responsible for the development and integrity of the accounting system
- Implementing robust financial processes and controls to ensure strong financial governance and accuracy
- Departmental governance, risk and control
- Project work for example transfer pricing – both commercial and technical projects
The role will interest:
- Ideally a qualified accountant – CIMA, ACA or ACCA or equivalent or a finalist keen to qualify
- Ambitious & highly commercial Finance Manager or Finance Controller keen to progress towards the Financial Director job in 2/3 years
- Strong team manager able to coach others
- Technically strong accountant - possibly practice trained (not essential) able to work across the business as a key business partner
- Solid experience in both management and financial accounting
- Assertive, has drive and tenacity
- Business partnering skills, able to work within a fast paced highly energetic environment
- Excellent IT knowledge
- Bundles of emotional intelligence, self awareness and vision
- Strong team player – collaborate player, flexible individual
- Career hungry, determined progressive accountant, entrepreneurial
- Key note: this role is replacing someone who is moving within the business so if you are on 3 months notice or waiting for a bonus payment in the New Year - the employer will be able to wait!
