This successful and rapidly-growing business is recruiting for their first Financial Controller to bring in house the accounting function. Job Role

The Job of Financial Controller will be functional, tactical, and partly strategic to help the business manage its finances and cash, to increase profitability and reduce spend, while creating opportunities for growth. This Financial Controller role requires an Accountant who can bring in the accountancy function, creating your own role, with full control of the finance function. As the No.1 in Finance, in time you will build your own team as the company grows. The Financial Controller will be a key member of the team and this hire is business critical for the future development of the business.

Job duties include:
  • Set up and creation of an internal accountancy function from the external accountants
  • Develop systems and procedures
  • Building and supervision of a small team as the company grows - currently supervising one staff
  • At the start the role will be “hands on” and involve maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Establish and prepare a monthly reporting package with insightful commentary and deliver to Board
  • Prepare monthly forecasts, working closely with department heads
  • Prepare Year End Pack and prepare annual financial statements
  • Review bank reconciliations, invoice financing
  • Set up improved Stock Management and Purchase Ordering Systems
  • Special projects for example set up an ERP system in the longer term
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and creditors as required
  • Prepare monthly payment runs and payroll
  • An exciting and key part of this job is business partnering, working closely with the Directors and supporting them with analysis, and costings and as well as financial support to enable business decisions.
  • You will enable the business to focus on future growth with your financial input
Requirements:
  • Ideally a fully qualified accountant ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • An Accountant/Finance Manager/Financial Controller who has experience of working in a small business ideally with “hands on experience”.
  • A competent and ambitious Accountant who can display strong communication skills.
  • A finance professional who can think outside the box and offer solutions, and ideas with a commercial outlook.
  • An Accountant who will enjoying implementing the accountancy function

  • A strong business sense, a financial leader who is able to become a key part of the decision making management team.
  • A Finance Manager/Financial Controller who is keen to grow a business
